All things bold and beautiful for your bathroom

If you’re thinking about taking the plunge and opting for a new bathroom design, bold is the running theme for the year. Whether you’re simply adding a splash of colour or doing a full overhall, these tips will keep your bathroom looking chic and stylish…

A big trend for 2017 has been dark and moody colours. Grey is becoming more popular, along with grey-blues and black and white colour schemes. When used properly, they can really add something new to the room’s overall look and feel.

You could paint a single wall in a contrasting bold colour, or if you want to add an eye-catching feature without the colour overwhelming the room, choose a vanity unit in a favourite shade. Painting tongue-and-groove panels is another simple but effective way to incorporate colour and texture.

Patterned tiles have made a big come back this year. Mediterranean patterns and motifs are particularly popular, and geometric patterns create a classic style, meaning that they will look timeless as well as on trend!

If you’re not feeling brave enough for patterned tiles, plain field tiles can provide an injection of style if you mix and match them in several different, but complimentary, colours.

Feature wallpaper isn’t just for living and dining rooms, particularly as this year bold and daring visual design has been high in bathroom trends. There are no limits with what you can achieve with wallpaper, and it can be a great way to express yourself and imprint personality on to another room in the house. You can wallpaper every wall, or you can make a feature wall and paint the rest with one other colour.

Make sure, however, you opt for water resistant wallpapers with a thick vinyl coating, to prevent any moisture from settling in.

If the above ideas still sound too daunting, and you feel a bit uneasy about committing to such permanent changes, incorporate accessories that can be changed easily. Bold dark towels, shower curtains or bathmats can make a huge visual impact. For a more unusual look, you can decant your lotions and shower potions into colourful bottles for a quirky and coordinated look.
